JOHN GALLIFANT
TRUSTEE
OPERATIONS DIRECTOR l COO l HEAD OF OPERATIONS, AF Blakemore & Sons LTD
John is a father of two energetic boys and a proud Yorkshireman. His early years in professional and semi-professional sport helped shape his understanding of teamwork, identity, pressure and the importance of strong relationships.
He has since built a varied career across the leisure, retail and hospitality sectors, gaining broad experience of different cultures, leadership styles and ways of working. Throughout his career, John has remained focused on putting people at the heart of organisations and creating environments where teams feel valued, supported and able to perform at their best.
Before becoming a Trustee, John volunteered with Tough To Talk for three years, supporting the charity’s operations, partnerships and wider development. During that time, he helped strengthen relationships, improve practical systems and turn ambitious ideas into action.
As a Trustee, John brings professional experience, sound judgement and a strong understanding of Tough To Talk’s mission. He helps provide oversight, constructive challenge and strategic support as the charity grows its work in upstream male suicide prevention.
Why Tough To Talk?
Through sport, business and his own experience as a man, John has seen how stigma and cultural barriers can prevent people from accessing valuable support.
He understands that reaching out, asking for help or speaking honestly about difficult experiences can feel uncomfortable, exposing or unsafe.
John is proud to support Tough To Talk’s work to remove those barriers, strengthen the people and systems around men, and create more opportunities for distress to be recognised before crisis develops.
He believes meaningful change happens when people work together, act earlier and create environments where men feel able to speak without fear of judgement.
