Employee well-being is more than just a workplace trend. It directly impacts productivity, morale, and your organisation’s success. At Tough to Talk, we’re on a mission to help businesses support their employees while addressing one of the most challenging and underdiscussed issues of our time: male suicide.
Every day, 17 people in England and Wales take their own lives. Tragically, 12 of them are men. These statistics reveal an urgent need to tackle the barriers that prevent men from speaking out about their struggles, such as stigma, isolation, and lack of awareness about available help. That’s why we’ve developed targeted, cost-effective e-learning modules designed to address the critical issues that often lead men to suicidal thoughts.
Why E-Learning Is a Game-Changer
Our e-learning services aren’t just about information; they’re about transformation and supporting your DEI/EDI statement. Organisations can improve well-being by giving employees the tools and knowledge to recognise and address mental health challenges while fostering a more open, supportive work environment.
Many issues can silently lead to poor mental health, with gambling being one of the most significant contributors. To address this, we’ve partnered with Dynamic and Balfour Beatty Vinci to create a specialised module on gambling, tailored for the construction industry.
This module equips men with practical tools to recognise the signs of gambling problems in themselves or their colleagues. It also connects them with resources through internal company channels or external organisations like GamCare. By addressing these challenges early, employees gain the confidence and support they need to make positive changes before issues escalate.
Comprehensive E-Learning for Every Male-Dominated Workplace
While our gambling module is a clear example of success, it’s only one piece of the puzzle. At Tough to Talk, we’ve designed a range of e-learning modules to tackle many factors contributing to mental health struggles, such as stress, relationship challenges, financial worries, and more.
The beauty of our e-learning platform lies in its adaptability. These digital tools are easy to roll out across teams and can be utilised at different times throughout the year. For organisations, this not only ensures constant accessibility but also keeps costs low while delivering high-impact results.
Benefits of E-Learning for Employers
Investing in mental health education isn’t just good ethics; it’s good business. Here’s how our e-learning services can benefit your organisation:
Enhance Employee Happiness. By addressing emotional well-being and sensitive issues like gambling, your employees will feel supported, which leads to a happier, more engaged workforce.
Boost Productivity. Employees struggling with mental health often face difficulties focusing and completing tasks efficiently. By tackling these challenges head-on, your team will perform better.
Reduce Absenteeism. When organisations take well-being seriously, employees are more likely to stay at work and less likely to take mental-health-related leave.
Foster a Culture of Trust. Employees need to know their employers care. Our tools demonstrate that companies are willing to engage with tough topics to better understand and support their teams.
A Vision for the Future
At Tough to Talk, our mission is rooted in making male suicide preventable through awareness, education, and action. We see a future where no man feels alone in his struggles because every workplace provides proper training, resources, and confidence-building support.
We dream of expanding our partnerships with male-dominated industries and organisations to bring our resources to even more vulnerable men. Together, we can ensure every team member not only knows how to identify and manage mental health struggles but also feels empowered to create a support network in and out of the workplace.
