At Battlebox, we’ve always been more than just a gym - we’re a family.

And like any family, we celebrate together, we sweat together, and we support each other through life’s challenges. This September, we’re coming together for a cause that’s deeply personal to us: honouring the memory of Peter and raising funds for Tough To Talk, an organisation dedicated to reducing male suicide by tackling the stigma preventing men from breaking the silence.

Peter joined our Battlebox family in 2013, just six months after we first opened our doors. A rugby player and the epitome of a gentle giant, Peter was physically strong, humble, and always eager to learn. He was the first to cheer others on during a WOD and the life and soul of every social gathering.

After leaving us for a few years, Peter returned in 2024, and it was as if he had never left. Everyone loved him, and his presence brought joy and encouragement to our community. That’s why his passing has been so devastating for all of us.

We didn’t see the signs of his anguish, and it’s a reminder of how vital it is to educate ourselves on how to support our friends and family in any situation. In January, we united the greater CrossFit community to honour Peter with a memorial workout and raise funds for mental health education. Now, we’re embarking on our next fundraiser:

The Event:

When: 9 am Saturday 13th September - 10 am Sunday 14th September

🏋️‍♂️ What:

  • One Hero WOD every hour on the hour

  • Rowing the distance to Edinburgh, one of Peter’s favorite places

  • Open to all members, family, and friends

This 24-hour event is a testament to Peter’s spirit and the strength of our community. Coach Katie and Emily will participate in as many of the WODs as possible, and we invite everyone to join us, whether you’re a member, a friend, or simply someone who wants to make a difference.

Why It Matters:

Poor mental health is a topic that touches us all, yet it’s often shrouded in silence. By coming together for this event, we’re not only honouring Peter’s memory but also raising awareness and funds to ensure that no one in our community feels alone in their struggles.

How You Can Help:

Let’s make this a day to remember - a day where we row the distance, both literally and figuratively, to support mental health awareness. Together, we can honour Peter’s legacy and make a lasting impact.

💙 Never forget.
